The four basic products produced at TIRES, Inc are:
powderized rubber (known as "crumb" used in rubberized asphalt for highways, running tracks, roofing materials)
tire chip (used as fuel or filler in construction projects)
clean steel (for reuse in the steel industry)
clean fiber (used for insulation or fuel)
The primary barrier to greater success is the scarcity of appropriate markets for the recycled tire components. TIRES, Inc. works with the manufacturers and the state to develop new markets for recycled tire products. Part of the task is to change attitudes towards using recycled materials.
